Jalen Jones State Champ...Again

GREENSBORO — Hoke County’s Jalen Jones won the 400-meter run at the NCHSAA 4-A state track meet Friday, and teammate Mikel Locklear joined him on the podium with a third-place finish.
Jones stopped the timers in 47.89 seconds to finished 11/100ths of a second ahead of Winston-Salem Parkland’s Trequan Barnes. Locklear finished third at 48.98.
Jones and Locklear were also on the third-place team in the 4x400 relay finals, sharing the bronze with teammates Hector Castillo and Calvin Purcell.
South View’s Janay Hall was the top finisher among region girls’ competitors, taking runner-up in the 1,6000. She crossed the stripe almost three-plus behind Isabel Zimmerman of Pfafftown Reagan.
Hoke’s Maya Singletary earned third in the girls’ 400 meters. She was also part of the second-place team in the 4x200 relay with teammates Leonie Kluwig, Shari Kluwig and Veronique Woodson.
Hoke County was tops among the Cape Fear region teams, with the boys placing sixth and the girls seventh.

Coach Deese of the Hoke Mens' Track team and Coach McLaughlin of the Hoke Womens' Track team both earned Coach of the Year honors for the Southeastern Athletic Conference
Boys' Earn Gold, Girls' Silver

Please congratulate our boys track team and their conference championship performance yesterday, which brought gold back to Raeford. Our girls fought hard and finished 2nd in the conference to a team that had over double the members.They both showed great sportsmanship and represented Hoke County extremely well.
