GREENSBORO — Hoke County’s boys, sparked by Jalen Jones’ win in the 400 meters and a strong showing in the relay races, placed second Saturday in the 4-A boys’ track meet at North Carolina A&T State University.
Durham Hillside won the meet with 52 points while Hoke had 42.
Jones won the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.91.
Hoke also won the 4x200 relay and got second-place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay races.
Brandon Smith, Devin Norwood, Jones and Montrell Douglas won the 4x200 with a time of 1:25.89
Smith, Norwood, Martez Riggins and Douglas clocked a 41.92 in the 4x100. Vicente Ortiz Sanchez, Mikel Locklear, Calvin Purcell and Jones ran 3:21.22 in the 4x400.
