Hoke County’s Brandon Smith won two individual events and keyed two relay teams to wins as Hoke County’s boys won the 17th annual Bill Carver Track and Field Classic at Reid Ross Classical School.
Raleigh Wakefield rolled up 129.5 points to easily win the girls’ meet over second-place Durham Hillside.
Smith took the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 10.84 and 22.47 respectively. He and teammates Martez Riggins, Devin Norwood and Montrell Douglas also won the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Cumberland County individual winners for the boys included Jack Britt’s Jackson Sullivan in the 1,600, Fayetteville Academy’s Trevon Compito in the 800, Pine Forest’s Deondre Cooper in the high jump and Bryce Perry Martin in the shot and Terry Sanford’s Trey Gillespie in the discus.
